Casual and Elegant Oceanfront Dining at the Bar Harbor Inn

Bar Harbor Inn dining options combine fresh local culinary delights with genuine Maine ambiance. From sophisticated oceanfront fine dining at the historic Reading Room, to a delicious night cap at the Oasis Club Lounge or a casual outdoor patio meal overlooking the harbor at the Terrace Grille, you’re bound to find a dining option that suits your style.
Whether you are looking for a beautiful ocean view breakfast location, lunch next to the water, a fine dining experience with nightly entertainment, or a light meal overlooking Frenchman Bay, the Bar Harbor Inn offers three unique dining experiences in one spectacular location

When dining at any of our restaurants, you will be introduced to Chef Louis Kiefer’s culinary delights, including many unique and locally inspired dishes, using the freshest ingredients. Chef Kiefer has been impressing our guests with his scrumptious seafood dishes since 1998 – many keep coming back year after year to experience the true taste of Downeast Maine cuisine. Make sure to try a few of our guests favorites, the creamy Maine Lobster Bisque or Frenchman Bay Seafood Cioppino in the Reading Room Restaurant, keeping in mind that it is worth saving room for the last course as our in-house baker makes our decadent desserts daily. A trip to Bar Harbor is not complete without experiencing a true Downeast Maine Lobster Bake accompanied by a Maine Blueberry Sangria while watching the lobster boats bring back the day’s catch.

The Bar Harbor Inn is the most iconic and historic hotel in Bar Harbor with its roots dating back to 1887 when the Mount Desert Reading Room was first inaugurated. People from around the world, including many dignitaries, have enjoyed drinks and meals at the Bar Harbor Inn. We invite you to join us, soak in our rich and cultural history, and enjoy authentic Maine dishes overlooking one of the most beautiful coastal landscapes of New England.
